NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASE TRAINING PROGRAM
The Neuromuscular diseases Reference Centre of Nice University Hospital (CRMR), an outstanding care facility and research centre dedicated to understanding neuromuscular diseases and developing innovative clinical therapies for neuromuscular disorders, is welcoming applications for position as foreign resident in Neurology (FFI – Faisant Fonction D’Interne) in an international exchange program for 6 months for training in neuromuscular diseases.
The fellow will take part in clinical and training activities in the Department (anatomical pathology, electrophysiology, ultra-sound/MRI) as well as in basic and/or clinical research projects focused on e-health and innovation, genetics and epigenetics of neuromuscular diseases, development of cellular and animal models.
Description of the CRMR:
The Neuromuscular diseases Reference Centre, led by Pr. Sabrina SACCONI, is in charge of patients affected by genetic and acquired neuromuscular diseases including SMA and mitochondrial diseases. The centre has been recognized as National Reference Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, and is part of the European Reference Network for NeuroMuscular Diseases (ERN EURO-NMD).
The centre offers a full range of diagnostic assessment, care and treatments to patients affected by a neuromuscular disease. A patient-centered multidisciplinary approach is promoted, including the possibility to follow the patients in their environment, in simple or multidisciplinary consultations, in the day/week ward, and to provide access to specialized platforms for diagnosis, care and treatment delivery as well as for research purposes.
For several years now, the neuromuscular diseases Reference Centre invests resources in basic, clinical and translational research for neuromuscular diseases associated to teaching activities. The CRMR is a university hospital entity bringing in the field of rare diseases, a diagnosis, a personalized multidisciplinary coordination with other departments as a well as private practice, patient’s associations and caregivers,.
Duration: 6 months
Salary: ~1500€/months + duties
Profile: Candidates should speak French (English is appreciated) to take part to clinical training and basic research projects.
This training is highly recommended for young neurologists willing to learn about neuromuscular diseases and to spend up to a year in a foreign Institution.
